RFA Fort Austin, older type of the fort class
Seen here alongside in Gibraltar, storing for the
Falklands conflict

RFA Bacchus, alongside in Gibraltar
Bacchus and sister ship Hebe were general cargo. |

RFA Regent and RFA Resurgent alongside for
a stores transfer, this lasted for three days
in the Indian Ocean in 1969

Overlooking the large flight deck of
RFA Argus. Capable of operating Harriers
and all of the Navies helicopters. |
|
|
|
|
There are extensive parking and maintenance
facilities below this flight deck.
In one of the hangers is a complete modern
field hospital capable of handling all but the most
serious of battle injuries.

Another angle, giving you an idea of the sheer size
of the deck. The ship is an all rounder, usually
employed to train pilots and crews in helicopter
handling at sea. |

A grand ship, the RFA Eddyfirth. Launched in
1953, she just seemed to go on and on.
This was a coastal tanker that went everywhere.

Empire Gull, don't know a lot about this ship.
It was a landing craft 'LST' , not sure it was an RFA. |
|
|
|
|
RFA Reliant making a bit of a splash.
This picture is deceptive as the ship is far larger
than it looks, it's a converted container ship.
The small boxes by the accommodation are
containers, gives an indication of the size.

The MV.Astronomer, one of the ships taken up
from trade. This was converted to take aircraft,
and after the war turned into RFA Retainer, the
picture above is the same ship. |
